The Michigan Department of Transportation recently announced that U.S. 23 between Barker Road (Exit 52) and Silver Lake Road (Exit 55) will be repaired. Starting March 1, bridge repairs are expected to begin in several locations along U.S. 23 just north of Ann Arbor. The project also includes paving U.S. 23 from the M-14/Barton Drive interchange east to U.S. 23, and on U.S. 23 north to Silver Lake Road. Paving is expected to begin in April, with all work done at night to minimize traffic disruptions.
Starting March 1, one lane of northbound U.S. 23 between Barker and Silver Lake roads will be closed around-the-clock, seven days a week, until mid-June. The closure is needed to accomodate bridge repairs in this section of U.S. 23. Once bridge repairs have been completed on northbound U.S. 23, single-lane closures will begin on southbound U.S. 23 and will remain in effect until the end of August.
Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes while U.S. 23 is under construction.
