I have been working from my first day in Lansing to secure funding for the Baker Road project, and I am pleased to announce that the $9.5 million dollar project to reconstruct and improve the entrance and exit ramps on Baker Road has been approved. Our roads bring us together. By improving the quality of our roads, we enhance safety and improve our quality of life and regional economic development opportunities. During my four years as a Washtenaw County Road Commissioner, we worked hard to try to ease the problem of congestion that exists throughout the county. The fact that this project does that, while providing jobs, makes it a huge boon to the community. Governor Granholm deserves our thanks and applause for her foresight in funding this project.
